Heading Off Into the Sunset

BY THOMAS SANTUCCI

The Queens Chamber of Commerce has been around since 1911. Throughout its long history, the number-one focus has been promoting business growth within the borough.

Several factors keep an organization operating efficiently, but most important are the volunteers who dedicate their lives to the cause of making a difference in their communities.

Few commit to decades of service, and the Queens Chamber has been honored with the presence of one such individual. Carol Conslato has spent her entire professional career with Consolidated Energy Company of NY, also known as Con Edison.

Throughout her tenure as a volunteer with the Queens Chamber, she served two terms as board chair, actively served on the board of the Queens Chamber Foundation, and continued to serve on our current board, all while working diligently with several other nonprofits in Queens County.

She is the epitome of the volunteer you want representing your organization.

Carol has retired and will be relocating to Nevada to soak up the sun and plot her next chapter. It has been an honor serving with her and following in her footsteps as chair. She’s a treasure.

As you contemplate your engagement with Queens Chamber of Commerce or any one of the outstanding nonprofits in Queens, take a page out of Carol’s playbook.

Volunteers are invaluable to nonprofits, they’re the lifeblood of our organizations. Speaking from experience, I know the importance of lending my expertise, time, and talent to the betterment of the local community.

Every volunteer is important regardless of the position you hold. It’s all about participation and passion for the greater good.

As Carol rides off into the sunset, she leaves a legacy of volunteer work that will forever be remembered. The Queens Chamber of Commerce is blessed to have had her grace us with her presence.

Take a moment and ponder your next volunteer move. How might you impact your community? What story will your volunteer life tell? Where can you make a difference?

The Queens Chamber of Commerce offers numerous opportunities for volunteer engagement. Our staff is available and eager to assist you. For more information, please visit queenschamber.org.
